Actors Studio 66 Announces The Drawer Boy

Albuquerque's Actors Studio 66 (AS66), presents The Drawer Boy, written by Canadian
playwright Michael Healey. This is third mainstage show in AS66’s ’22-’23 Season. The play
showcases local New Mexico Actors
Mark Hisler, Evan Spreen and Ms.Versai Knight.

The Drawer Boy, a winner of Canada’s Governor General’s Literary Award and the Helen Hayes
Award among others; follows Miles, a young actor from the big city who moves in with two
bachelor-farmers to do research for a new play. Anxious for material, Miles includes an
overheard conversation and includes it in her play, unwittingly breaking open the fragile
arrangement of the farmer’s lives and the healing power of truth.

Director Marc Comstock says of the play,
“We, as storytellers are always looking to tell storiesthat entertain us, enlighten us and most importantly are reflective of us and our human condition. There is an emotional connection in seeing ourselves and our stories on stage. The Greeks got it right with the comedy – tragedy masks. When we put those two masks together on stage we connect to the beauty and complexity that is life. Michael Healy’s script, The Drawer Boy finds that beauty and balance.”

The Drawer Boy opens Friday, March 24th, 2023 (with a Preview performance on March 23rd),
and runs through Sunday, April 9th.
The theater’s Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening showsare performed at 7:30pm and Sunday matinees are at 2pm.

All shows are performed at the Black Cat Theatre space at 3011-13 Monte Vista Blvd., NE,
