Actors Studio 66 Announces
Gloria by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins
Albuquerque's Actors Studio 66 (AS66) presents Gloria, written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins.
This is the fourth and final mainstage show in AS66’s ’22-’23 Season. The play is directed by
Dodie Montgomery and showcases local New Mexico talent including actors Joelle Yann, Violet
Jada, Clair Gardner, Nicholas Johnson, Miguel Pellerano and Jay Hobson. Production members
include Set Design by Mary Rossman, Props by Ricky Fox, Sound and Lighting by Banx
Tenorio and Costume Design by Jacob Dunlap.
Gloria is written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, an American playwright, and a graduate of Julliard.
He won the 2014 Obie Award for Best New American Play for his plays Appropriate and
Octoroon. His play, Gloria, made its Off-Broadway debut in 2015 and was a finalist for the
Pulitzer Prize in Drama, the following year. He was also a winner of the Most Promising
Playwright and the Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Play, among others.
Director Dodie Montgomery says of the play “When considering the blinding forces of ambition,
all patterns of office politics will repeat themselves. This sets everyone up to go through various
tragedies repeatedly. Gloria is set in a satirical and absurdist circuitous universe, where lessons
tend never to be learned.”
Gloria opens Friday, May 26th, 2023 (with a Preview performance on May 25th), and runs
through Sunday, June 11th. The theater’s Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening shows are
performed at 7:30pm and Sunday matinees are at 2pm.
All shows are performed at the Black Cat Theatre space at 3011-13 Monte Vista Blvd., NE,
Albuquerque, NM 87106. Seating is general admission and tickets are $20. If available, tickets
may be purchased at the door, but patrons are encouraged to reserve them in advance through our
website at: https://www.actorsstudio66.org/ticketing
