Volunteer Guidelines
Actors Studio 66 seeks Front-of-House volunteers for our upcoming production, Gloria by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins (May 25 – Jun 11, 2023). Performances are held at the Black Cat Cultural Center,
3011-13 Monte Vista Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
Gloria is a play about ambition and how ambition can bring out the ugly side of our humanity. It's also a play about how we shouldn't let it.
A total of 24 volunteers are sought – two per show. One volunteer will oversee concessions, and one will assist with box office functions.
Concessions are available on a donation/honor system, with suggested prices shown on signage. Concessions are sold before the show and at intermission. The concessions volunteer may need to make change for people who do not have smaller bills. Food and beverages are permitted inside the theater.
The box office volunteer will check in patrons who have pre-paid or are being Comped for the show from a pre-printed form and provide them with a program. Actors Studio 66 (AS66) uses abbreviated programs that include a QR code that sends patrons to the AS66 website for additional information, and guests may need assistance understanding this document. This volunteer will refer guests needing a ticket to the sales counter.
Both volunteers will be advised of other helpful information to share and address guest questions. These will include considerations such as ticket costs, show run time, special warnings (strobe lights, gunshots, etc., in the show), as well as the inclusion of absence of an intermission. Volunteers are asked to familiarize themselves with the location of guest restrooms. AS66 Board Members will be available in the theater lobby to assist.
You may wear anything you like. We ask only that you be neat and clean. Please arrive one hour before the show starts. That means at 6:30 pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays when the show begins at 7:30 pm, and 1 pm on Sundays, when the show starts at 2 pm.
Please plan to stay through intermission or the show's start for performances without a break. You may bring a friend to the show for free. If you are running late or cannot make your shift, please call or text us at 505-803-6575.
Performance Schedule: All performances will run on a 3-week cycle with a 7:30 pm starting time on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and a 2 pm matinee on Sunday. The first Thursday is a preview with a $15 ticket price. The second Thursday is a Pay-What-You-Will performance- cash only at the door, with all proceeds shared by cast and crew.
