The Drawer Boy

The Drawer Boy recalls the experiences of a young actor from a Canadian theatre group who visits the rural home of two elderly bachelor farmers to research farm life for a new play. In doing so, he/she demonstrates how storytelling can create and interpret reality and transform lives.

 

Time & Place: Set in 1972 on a farm near Ontario. Canada.

 

Roles:

Miles – Twenty-something. A member of an acting collective workshopping a production about farmers. (Could also be cast as a female.)

Morgan – A mature adult male. A bachelor farmer and veteran of WWII.

Angus – A mature adult male. A bachelor farmer that suffered a brain injury during WWII.

Gloria

Gloria is a dramatic comedy that examines the lives of working Americans and the dynamics in the workplace. It follows an ambitious group of editorial assistants at a Manhattan magazine, each hoping for a life of letters and book deals. The game changes when a seemingly humdrum day at the office becomes anything but.

 

Time & Place: The Midtown offices of an American magazine, in the 2010’s.

 

Roles:

Dean/Devin – Extra-late 20’s, white.

Kendra/Jenna – Mid-late 20’s, Asian American.

Ani/Sasha/Callie – Early 20’s, white.

Gloria/Nan – Extra-late 30s, any race/background.

Lorin – Late 30’s, background is unclear.

Tech: May 21 – 24, 2023

Preview: Thu – May 25, 2023
